currrently - I'm an academic, lecturing at University
after
moving to work and live in Laos (the Lao People's Democratic Republic, or Lao PDR)
in 1999, I returned to Australia in late 2002. Much has been
written about Laos, yet all I can say here is that is has to
be experienced first hand - for me the place was ' home ' more
than any other.
before
going to Laos I spent 2 years in Melbourne working as research director for the venture
capital company (Mondo Medical) helping them take
my University PhD project to something that could be sold to
hospitals around the world. The PhD project in question was a
machine that allwed people in SEVERE pain regulate their own pain relief. The person in
pain needs to rate their pain on a scale of 1 - 10 , and press ENTER. An infusion pump infuses potent analgesic directly into the bloodstream i.e a direct 'hit' of morphine into
the veins .....aaaaaahhhhh :-)
I spent
the hot Tokyo summer of 1997 at a Shinto Shrine, in Kijijochi
on the Chuo-sen fulfulling an old 'debt' and writing a computer
program that analyzed health by measuring accupuncture points
on the fingers and toes. The state acupuncture meridians and
associated organs could be deduced from these measurements.
